The Costa Blanca is a part of Spain that will never cease to amaze me. With its beautiful beaches, dramatic landscapes, delicious food and sunny weather, it is the perfect setting for a romantic getaway. And what’s a romantic getaway without a romantic hotel room? Luckily, the North of Costa Blanca has plenty of romantic hotels!
SOLYMAR Gran Hotel The One - Calpe
I honestly cannot speak highly enough about SOLYMAR Gran Hotel The One in Calpe. Our room was filled with free niceties, and there was so much to choose from at the complimentary breakfast buffet. We even had champagne at breakfast! And did I mention the amazing sea views and Ifach rock views from both our balcony and from the infinity pool? Everything was absolutely perfect for a romantic and care-free getaway.Β
Look at these amazing views from the infinity pool at SOLYMARΒ – we could stare at the Ifach rock all day long:
The balcony of our hotel room also had the most wonderful views of the Ifach rock:
The room itself was equipped with a free mini bar, lavender pillow spray and even a foot cream which was exactly what we needed after having walked around Calpe all day. It had been a while since we’ve come across a hotel that takes care of every single detail to make sure you have a wonderful, romantic and luxurious stay. SOLYMAR absolutely nailed it!
Also, how beautiful and spacious is the room itself?! We booked a Double Room, Sea View:
Even the bathroom is spacious with a shower, a bath/shower, and a separate room for the toilet:
Other amenities in SOLYMAR are: full service spa, fitness centre, sauna and steam room. The hotel is centrally located in Calpe and is facing the beach.
Restaurant Abiss
To turn up the romance even more, I highly recommend to have dinner at SOLYMAR‘s restaurant called Abiss. We went for the tasting menu with matching wines, and it did not disappoint. In fact, the tasting menu at Abiss could easily be the best tasting menu we’ve ever had. Plus we had so much fun with all the wines. Abiss is open from Wednesdays to Sundays.
I emailed Abiss to make a reservation and asked for a table with sea views and if they could replace any sea food dishes on the tasting menu with something else. They were very happy to accommodate.
Hotel Bahia - Calpe
We also stayed at Hotel Bahia in Calpe (mainly because it was much cheaper than SOLYMAR), but our experience at Bahia wasn’t as special. The room was simple and didn’t come with a free mini bar, pillow spray or foot cream. And even though we had sea views, we didn’t see the Ifach rock from our balcony. The breakfast was also really simple compared to what we had in SOLYMAR.Β
Hotel Bahia does have a really nice view of the Ifach Rock from the poolside bar though:Β
Hotel Bahia is a good option if you need to keep an eye on your budget (which we did, because we were in the Costa Blanca to buy our apartment), but if you have some extra cash to splash I would 100% go for SOLYMAR instead.
Other romantic hotels in North Costa Blanca:
We have not personally stayed in these hotels, but I recommend them based on reviews and pictures I’ve seen online.
- Villa Venecia Hotel (Benidorm) – 5 star hotel with excellent guest reviews, rooms with sea views and champagne service, free cooked-to-order breakfast, indoor pool, full service spa, steam room and fitness centre.
- SH Villa Gadea Hotel (Altea) – 5 star hotel with luxurious facilities and excellent guest reviews. Rooms with sea views and bubble bath. Multiple restaurants, multiple pools, spa services, Turkish bath/ hammam, sauna and fitness facilities onsite.Β
- Porta Nova Suites (Altea) – Small hotel with only 5 suites, adults-only, amazingly decorated rooms with sea views.
