Montenegro is the perfect destination for couples who love nature (and wine!). Not only does Montenegro have lakes, mountains, beaches and vineyards, it also has a lot of nice and romantic hotels for couples.
I know that every couple has their own travel style, so I have split my favourite romantic hotels in Montenegro in the following categories:
Adult-only hotels in Montenegro
Monte Bay Retreat - Perast
Adult-only hotels are the perfect place to stay for couples who are looking for a quiet and care-free romantic getaway. We stayed at the Monte Bay RetreatΒ in Perast and it sure did feel like a retreat. We absolutely loved to watch the sunset from the infinity pool with views of the sea and the church of Perast :
Monte Bay Retreat only has 6 rooms, so there won’t be more than 10 other guests. When we visited in September, we had the infinity pool to ourselves in the morning and in the evening. All rooms come with LED-illuminated rainfall showers big enough for 2 π .
We didn’t need to go far for a luxury dinner experience when staying at Monte Bay Retreat, because we had a private dinner at the infinity pool in the evening. We went for a delicious steak, but we were both absolutely blown away by the truffle mashed potato:
The breakfast in the morning was included in the room rate, and both the food and the views from the breakfast room were amazing. We could choose a starter, main and drinks from a set menu.Β I went for yoghurt with granola as a starter and the banana bread as main, and both were absolutely delicious. We also got coffee and lemon water:
We left Monte Bay Retreat fully recharged and ready for our next Montenegro adventure. I mean, how could you not feel recharged after admiring these views from the infinity pool. Other adult-only hotels in Montenegro
We haven’t personally stayed at these adult-only hotels in Montenegro, but they are worth visiting based on the online reviews and pictures:

Hotels near the beach in Montenegro
For couples who prefer a beach holiday in Montenegro, I highly recommend staying near Sveti Stefan beach. Sveti Stefan itself is a resort on a small island. The buildings on the island have orange rooftops, and they create a dramatic and mysterious view. Sveti Stefan Beach is a truly unique and iconic beach which is not to be missed when in Montenegro.
Villa Edelweiss - Sveti Stefan
We stayed at Villa EdelweissΒ and our private balcony had wonderful views over Sveti Stefan beach:
We really enjoyed watching the sunset with Sveti Stefan views from our private balcony with our bottle of red wine which we bought at a local Montenegro vineyard. Villa Edelweiss is a short walk from the Sveti Stefan beach and restaurants and supermarkets. The Villa itself doesn’t have any restaurant, but each apartment within the villa comes with its own kitchen.

Quirky hotels in Montenegro
If you’re looking for something quirky and out of the ordinary, Montenegro has that too. How about staying in a lake house or in a wooden lodge?
For breakfast with beautiful lake views, and a relaxing boat trip, Lake Skadar is the place to be. We also stayed in wooden lodges in etno villages:
To find this cute wooden cabin, you should search for “Etno selo Smrcevo brdo” in Agoda. I wasn’t able to find the place at Lake Skadar we stayed at, but if you search for “Old House, Skadar Lake” in Agoda you’ll find something similar.
