Cave Hotel in Cappadocia

Planned a trip to Cappadocia, and only just found out that the insta-famous Sultan Cave Suites are already fully booked? Fret not! There are many other cave hotels in Goreme/ Cappadocia with wonderful sunrise views. We had a lovely stay in the Village Cave House hotel.

The Village Cave House hotel is a family hotel in Goreme, and we were definitely treated like family. We received plenty of recommendations on what to visit from the friendly staff in the lobby. And the few times we had Wi-Fi issues, they were fixed within minutes.

Here are some of the highlights that the Village Cave House Hotel has to offer:

Magical sunrises from the balcony

For me, the most important thing about a hotel in Cappadocia is the sunrise view. The Village Cave House hotel definitely did not disappoint on this one!

Magical hot air balloon sunrise in Cappadocia. Viewed from a balcony at the Village Cave House Hotel.

Every morning, we would wake up to the most beautiful skyline filled with hot air balloons. The best part is that we could watch it all from the comfort of our balcony. The balconies in Village Cave House hotel are shared, but we didn’t see any other guests on the balconies during our stay in May.

The best hour to watch the sunrise is between 5:30am and 6:30am, although there will still be a few hot air balloons in the sky at 7am.

Living inside a cave

Cappadocians have lived inside caves for centuries, so staying inside a cave hotel is a must-do! Living inside a cave feels like going back in time, and it is an experience that makes Cappadocia so unique.

The only video I could find of our cave room was in my Instagram stories, so apologies for the text and stickers on the video. The whole Cappadocia trip was a surprise from Jordi, and I absolutely loved every part of it! Just have a look at the living room, bedroom and bathroom of our cave:

There are different types of rooms in Village Cave House, we stayed in the Junior Suite with bubble bath:

Our cave was actually very spacious – the living room could easily be used as a home office for all you bloggers out there 😊.

Communal gardens

Immediately after opening the gates of Village Cave House hotel, you’ll enter the communal gardens. The gardens offer a beautiful place to wind down while being surrounded by flowers and decorations:

The stairs to the cave rooms are right behind the communal gardens:

Goreme viewpoint

Now that you’ve seen Village Cave House from the inside, it’s time to talk about its surroundings.

The Goreme ViewpointΒ is conveniently located on top of the Village Cave House hotel. All you need to do to get there is follow the path up the mountain, which starts right next to the hotel. This gives you enough time in the morning to watch the sunrise from the balcony, and from the Goreme viewpoint. The viewpoint is also worth a visit in the evenings:

Below is a selfie of us standing in front of the Village Cave House, so you can see the Goreme viewpoint on top. You’ll also find an instagrammable spot just across the road from Village Cave House:

Add to your bucket list:

Alternative stay: Sultan Cave Suites

The Sultan Cave Suites is without a doubt the most Instagram-famous hotel in Cappadocia, so you’ll need to book this hotel months in advance or get lucky. Although we didn’t manage to book this hotel on time, the friendly staff did let us in to take a few pictures from the terrace:
