Travel Couple enjoying the sunrise from bed at Armyra Villas in Zakynthos (Greece)

After having spent most of 18 months locked down in our one bedroom flat in London because of the coronavirus pandemic, the space, peace and quietness of Armyra Villas was exactly what we needed. Surrounded by sea views, we felt like we were on a retreat.

Sunrises at Armyra Villas Zakynthos

My favourite part of our stay in Armyra Villas in Zakynthos were the sunrises in the morning. We stayed in the “2 Bedroom Ground Floor Apartment with Sea views”, which is located underneath the communal swimming pool.Β

The master bedroom of our apartment had two huge sets of doors which opened onto our private terrace, so we could move our bed through the doors to watch the spectacular sunrise from the comfort of our bed:

Although we could hear another couple watching the sunrise from the communal swimming pool, our private terrace was positioned in such an angle that they wouldn’t have been able to see us doing our “watching the sunrise from bed” photo shoot.

This is the sets of doors which you’ll need to open to carry the bed outside:

Also, how pretty are those sea views from the bedroom?!

Swimming pool at Armyra Villas

The swimming pool at Armyra Villas is a communal one, so you’ll have to share it with other guests. When we stayed at Armyra Villas in September, we had the full pool area to ourselves though.Β

I loved the sea views from the pool area, the cute wishing well decoration and that you can just sit down in the pool without having to swim. Although we did also swim a few lanes, and the pool is big enough for swim fanatics.

Our room in Armyra Villas

Like I mentioned before, we stayed in the 2 bedroom ground floor apartment with sea views. So I’m giving you a tour of what this ground floor villa looks like:

Living room and kitchen area

Β As soon as we entered the villa, we stepped into the large living room with kitchen:

The living room has a dining table with six chairs and a sofa. There’s also a cabinet with a fews books inside, for those who like to read. (I do like to read, but didn’t really have the time for it during my stay in Armyra Villas).

IΒ have to admit we only used the kitchen to wash up our dishes and to keep our drinks cool, but it seemed like the kitchen is well equipped for a holiday home. It definitely had an opener for our bottle of wine.

Second bedroom with ensuite bathroom

On the right hand side of the living room / kitchen is the second bedroom with two single beds, a wardrobe and its own ensuite bathroom. We only used the second bedroom for the extra hangers in the wardrobe, but this is what the bedroom looked like:

The ensuite bathroom of the second bedroom has the same layout as the master bedroom’s bathroom, with the only difference being that the second bathroom has a washing machine:

On the left hand side of the living room / kitchen is the master bedroom with a double bed, wardrobe and ensuite bathroom:

As you can see in the pictures, the bedroom and two bathrooms all have big mirrors, so we had no issues with getting ready for our day at the same time. For us it is always a huge time saver to each have our own mirror.

Also, both the living room and the two bedrooms are equipped with airconditioning, which worked very well.

Private terrace with sea views

Last but not least, we had a huge private terrace with two sets of furniture and amazing sea views:

One set of furniture was a lounge area with a sofa and two comfy chairs, while the other set of furniture was a dining area with a table and chairs.Β

We also had some cats hanging out on our terrace, which I found super cute. I think they only came around because we asked the host to bring us some cat food, so we were feeding them in the mornings and evenings. Can you spot the kitten on the sofa, and the other cat sunbathing on the floor?

Staff at Armyra Villas

When we arrived at Armyra Villas late in the evening – after our flight to Zakynthos and picking up our rental car – our host asked us if we already had dinner. We told her we hadn’t and she was like, “how about a dinner with sea views tonight?”. Obviously it was an offer we couldn’t resist, so she told us to follow her by car.

After less than a 10-minute drive, she parked her car, spoke to the restaurant owner and sure enough we had a table right next to the sea. We couldn’t believe our luck, especially when the restaurant turned out to be very reasonably priced as well. So without any plans or reservations, we had gyros and spaghetti next to the sea thanks to our host at Armyra Villas:

Another thing I liked about Armyra Villas was the food delivery service. Our villa had a booklet inside with all the menus (and prices) of restaurants and food shops in nearby Agios Nikolaos, and a Whatsapp number to take our order.

So even if we felt like having food from different restaurants, we could just ask for it to be delivered to our villa. Obviously we had to pay for the food, but the delivery service was free, and they would tell us how long the delivery would take when we submitted our order. How luxury!

Places nearby Armyra Villas

The port of Agios Nikolaos is only a 6 minute drive from Armyra Villas, and this is where the boats to the Shipwreck Beach depart from.

This is not to be confused with the Shipwreck Beach viewpoint, which is a 20 minute drive from Armyra Villas.

All in all we had a wonderful stay at Armyra Villas, and we would recommend it to other couples or families who enjoy space, peace and quiteness during their holidays.
