Villa Sidemen is a romantic and luxury retreat in the middle of Bali’s jungle. The highlights of our stay were the private infinity pool with volcano views, the typical Balinese breakfast in our garden, and the giant indoor hot tub. To make sure you don’t miss out on the volcano views, I’d recommend you stay more than 1 night.
Highlights of our stay in Villa Sidemen
After we spent the day discovering Bali’s temples and waterfalls, we arrived at Villa Sidemen late afternoon. We were immediately impressed with the massive private infinity pool in the garden:
Despite the clouds fully covering the volcano, we were still amazed by the jungle views from the pool.
As if the private infinity pool is not enough reason to stay at Villa Sidemen, there’s also a massive hot tub with garden views inside the bathroom:
The breakfast served on the patio in our garden the next morning didn’t fail to impress either. During the check-in process, we were asked to choose from a breakfast menu and at what time we wanted to have our breakfast the next day.
Jordi picked the English breakfast, but I couldn’t resist the typical Balinese breakfast (nasi goreng with a fried egg on top). We also got fruits, fresh juice and coffee with our breakfast:
Just by looking at the entrance of the villa behind Jordi, you will get an impression of how large the villa is. Also, how beautiful are the details on the wall behind me?!
Villa Sidemen is private with no personnel on-site, but the staff is available by WhatsApp or phone 24/7. We dropped them a message when we found out that the projector of the home cinema wasn’t working. It was already after dinner, but they immediately offered to come over and fix it.
A stay in Bali doesn’t get much more romantic and luxury than in Villa Sidemen, which makes it a perfect stay for couples.
Know before you go
I really loved every minute of our stay in Bali’s Villa Sidemen, but there are a few things you should be aware of:
- Volcano views are not guaranteed, as they are fully dependent on the weather.
Clouds entirely covered the volcano views from the moment we arrived, and the sky didn’t clear up until 20 minutes (!) before check-out time. We only stayed one night, so we got quite lucky in the end.
To increase your chances of having volcano views, I recommend you stay longer than 1 night (we were told that clouds could last for days if you’re very unlucky).
Just check out the difference between clouds and no clouds and be your own judge:
- Villa Sidemen is located in the middle of nowhere, so you won’t find more than 1 restaurant for lunch and dinner within walking distance. The only restaurant around is that of another hotel, just a bit higher up the hill.
- Β Don’t be surprised if there are geckos walking around your living room at night. We weren’t really bothered by them, and I guess it’s the price you pay for staying in a villa surrounded by nature. At least they were eating the bugs inside.
