What to expect from the James Bond island tour

When you’re in Thailand, you will see the James Bond island tour being promoted everywhere. But did you know that the tour includes much more than just seeing the landscape that earned its fame in Bond’s “The man with the golden gun”? It is a delightful day trip from Phuket.

Phang Nga Bay

The first stop of the boat tour is the Phang Nga Bay, where the James Bond movie was shot. It is a wonderful landscape but very touristic (as expected). We did manage to shoot some great pictures before our boat left for the next stop. Everything in this tour is timed, so you won’t be able to enjoy the trip at your own pace.

Canoeing through the mangrove forest

Don’t worry if the word “canoeing” sounds too active for you. In this tour, it just means that someone else will canoe you through the mangrove forest. So you can just sit down and relax, which is exactly what we did. We really enjoyed being canoed through the mangrove forest while taking in the beautiful landscapes.

Lunch at Koh Panyee village

Koh Panyee is a Muslim fishermen village in the middle of the sea. The village is built on stilts, which is quite a unique sight. We rushed our lunch to have some more time to walk around this fascinating village. The village is the final stop of the boat tour, after which the boat returned to Phuket.

Monkey cave and reclining Buddha

Just before heading back to our hotel in Patong, our shuttle bus made one last stop at the Monkey cave. The Monkey cave is also a temple with a reclining Buddha. This reclining Buddha is much smaller than the one in Bangkok’s Wat Pho. The monkeys running around the cave are fun to watch.
