Having a meal with skyline views is a must do when in New York City. Especially the Times Square views are really impressive. I’d recommend Bar 54 for a cocktail (or two), and SuperNova for breakfast.

Bar 54 for cocktails with Times Square views
Bar 54 is an open air rooftop bar from the Hyatt hotel. We were no hotel guests, but we still got in without having a reservation. We just explained to the receptionist that we wanted to have a drink at the rooftop bar.
It was a rainy day in December when we visited, so there was no outdoor seating on the rooftop bar terrace. We were sat at a table inside, and the waitress explained that we could go outside on the terrace as soon as we had our drinks.Β
They don’t allow guests on the terrace who haven’t bought anything first, which is fair enough. It also limits the number of people on the terrace, so less people to block these wonderful New York City skyline views:
The Bar 54 rooftop terrace is open from 4 pm until after midnight. Cocktails are a little over $20 each, beer is a little over $10 and wine is around $20 per glass. I went for a cocktail called “Kiss me Kate” which was delicious!
SuperNova for breakfast with Times Square views
There’s no better start to the day than a good breakfast with even better views! And that’s exactly what Novotel’s SuperNova has to offer.
Again, we showed up without having a reservation – we couldn’t believe our luck when they gave us the best table in the house. Who wouldn’t enjoy a breakfast with views like this:

For a fixed price of $30 each, we got to choose from the breakfast menu and take unlimited food from the enormous breakfast buffet as well. We both went for the Eggs Benedict, and they were amazing! Coffee / tea and water was included too.
SuperNova is open for breakfast all year from 6:30 am until 11 am. The terrace you see in our pictures is only open during summer months, from 4 pm until 11:30 pm.
