Acropolis views from Astor Hotel
The Acropolis views from both our room and the breakfast room at the Astor Hotel were simply incredible! I cannot think of anything more iconic in Athens than the Acropolis, so you’ll definitely need a room with Acropolis views when planning an unforgettable getaway in Athens.
We booked an “Acropolis Frame Room”, and initially we were given a room on one of the lower floors. We could just about see the Acropolis, but most of our views were blocked by the surrounding flats (most of which looked abandoned). The room we were given also didn’t have a balcony.
So we went back to the reception pretty much immediately after we checked in to ask for a room on a higher floor with Acropolis views and a balcony. This was after 9pm so unfortunately there weren’t any rooms left that met our requirements. However, the receptionist was really friendly and told us to come back in the morning, and that they would try anything they can to give us a better room.
Sure enough, the next morning we got a room two floors higher, and with a balcony. We couldn’t believe our luck! Here’s a picture of the views from the first room (left) and of the views from the second room (right) for comparison:
So when you book an Acropolis Frame Room at the Astor Hotel, make sure to ask for a roomΒ on the sixth floor or higher, and a room with a balcony.
I really loved that from the moment we opened our eyes in Athens, we could see the iconic Acropolis from the comfort of our bed. And although the balcony was just big enough to stand on (it didn’t have any space for chairs etc), we managed to get some awesome pictures:
But the most iconic Acropolis views were from the breakfast room on the 9th floor. Having breakfast with a view like this is definitely worth waking up early for:
Unfortunately they closed the breakfast room for the rest of the day, but it would have been awesome to be able to take pictures at night too. The views are so impressive when the Acropolis is all lit up by the spotlights.
