Types of Romantic Accommodations in Finnish Lapland
These are the different types of romantic accommodations that will make your romantic getaway to Finnish Lapland truly unforgettable:
We personally stayed in all these types of accommodations (except the Snow Hotel), and it’s so hard to choose a favourite.
Glass Igloo: Sleeping Under the Stars
Imagine snuggling up with your loved one under a blanket of stars, all while staying warm and cosy in a luxurious glass igloo.
If you’re lucky, these transparent domes offer uninterrupted views of the Northern Lights dancing across the Arctic sky, providing an intimate and unforgettable experience for couples. But even if the Northern Lights don’t show up, it’s still super romantic to sleep under a sky of stars while being surrounded by snowy landscapes.
Whether you’re seeking romance or adventure, a night in a glass igloo is sure to be an experience you’ll never forget.
Book your Glass Igloo
Not all Glass Igloos are built the same, so when booking your glass igloo, it’s important to look at:
- Is there a toilet or shower?
- Are the views uninterrupted?
We personally stayed in a small Glass Igloo in the East Village of the Arctic Resort in Kakslauttanen. Our Igloo had uninterrupted views as the windows were as low as our bed, with the option to put up some curtains for privacy. We had a toilet inside our igloo, but the showers were shared.
When we booked, the Glass Igloo was the same price on Hotels.com and Booking.com, but the offer at Booking.com included half board, so it’s worth comparing prices.
Other Glass Igloos
Here’s a list of other glass igloos in Finnish Lapland that are popular with couples:
- Santa’s Igloos Arctic Circle – Rovaniemi | Private Bathroom and Shower | Partially interrupted views | Near Santa’s Village | Some igloos come with private sauna or outdoor hot tub.
- Arctic SnowHotel & Glass Igloos – Rovaniemi | Private Bathroom and Shower | Slightly interrupted views
- Santa’s Hotel Aurora & Igloos – Sodankyla | Private Bathroom and Shower | Uninterrupted views.
- Ranua Resort Arctic Igloos – Ranua | Private Bathroom and Shower | Uninterrupted views | Private Kitchen | Private Sauna

Arctic Snow Hotel: Embrace the Arctic Charm
For couples seeking a truly unique experience, a stay at the Arctic Snow Hotel in Finnish Lapland is an absolute must.
Crafted entirely from snow and ice, the rooms at the Arctic Snow Hotel provide a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to immerse yourselves in the Arctic beauty. From carved ice sculptures to frosty corridors adorned with lights, every corner of the Arctic Snow Hotel exudes an otherworldly charm.
Cosy up in thermal sleeping bags atop fur-lined beds that are sculpted out of ice. It’s a fairy-tale setting that promises to sweep you off your feet and create memories to last a lifetime.
Even if you’re not brave enough to sleep in the Arctic Snow Hotel, it is definitely worth visiting the ice sculptured rooms during a tour, having dinner in the Ice restaurant or having a drink at the Ice bar:
Glass Resort with Private Outdoor Jacuzzi: Soak in Luxury
Indulge in the ultimate romantic getaway at the Glass Resort, conveniently located within walking distance of Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi. Offering a perfect blend of luxury and intimacy, the resort boasts stylish glass-roofed accommodations equipped with all modern amenities.
Picture yourself unwinding in a private outdoor jacuzzi, surrounded by snow-capped trees and the serene beauty of nature. As the crisp Arctic air kisses your skin, let the tranquility of your surroundings deepen your bond with your partner, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime.
Make sure to warm up your private indoor sauna while enjoying the outdoor jacuzzi, so you can warm up immediately after braving the cold on your way back to your glass apartment.
The Glass Resort is super popular and it’s notoriously difficult to book a glass apartment with sauna and jacuzzi as they’re always fully booked, so if you see an available glass apartment, jump on it and book it immediately!
Sometimes glass resorts come back after a cancellation, so it’s worth to keep checking Booking.com and Agoda if your dates show as fully booked.

We had a wonderful time at Kenttaniemi Cottages – a cute wooden cottage next to a frozen lake which came with a fireplace and a private sauna.
