Unmissable Photo Spots in Paris
If you’re short on time for your couple photo shoot in Paris, here are the 5 iconic photo spots you absolutely can’t miss: Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Sacre Coeur, Moulin Rouge and Notre Dame.
Louvre
Begin your romantic escapade at the Louvre, the world’s largest art museum, and a symbol of Parisian grandeur. Pose before the glass pyramid, a modern contrast against the historic backdrop, for a striking photo that blends tradition with contemporary flair.
Here are some pictures where we pose with the larger pyramid of the Louvre. It was only 8:30 am in these pictures, but we already had to find a corner without crowds:
Another one of my favourite photo spots at the Louvre is from the gate where you can see the smaller pyramid stand in front of the larger pyramid. The light contrast creates a dramatic effect:
Eiffel Tower
No visit to Paris is complete without a visit to the iconic Eiffel Tower. Capture the magic of your love against the backdrop of this architectural marvel, whether during the golden hues of sunrise or the sparkling lights of nighttime.
There are so many good spots to take romantic couple pictures with the Eiffel Tower from, that I’ve dedicated a special blog post about romantic photo spots with the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The post includes a map with my Eiffel Tower photo spots, so they’ll be really easy to find.
Sacre Coeur
Located on top of the picturesque Montmartre hill, the Sacre Coeur Basilica offers panoramic views of Paris and a romantic ambiance that’s perfect for couples. Take a leisurely stroll through the charming streets of Montmartre after capturing a dreamy shot with the basilica as your backdrop.
The Sacre Coeur is a very popular landmark in Paris, so it gets crowded quickly. These pictures were taken at sunrise, so you can see the light in the pictures change as time passes.
One trick to avoid having the crowds in your pictures at the Sacre Coeur is by taking pictures from the stairs. You can see there’s people around the Sacre Coeur, but they appear small in our pictures. Finding a quiet spot on the stairs also takes patience though.
AnotherΒ trick to avoid having the crowds in your pictures at the Sacre Coeur is by taking pictures in portrait mode, as this doesn’t leave much space for the crowds between you and the Sacre Coeur:
Travel Photography for Couples
Learn more about taking your own travel pictures as a couple in my book:
As a travel couple, do you ever wish to travel back to a place, just to take better pictures together? I sure know I do! Thatβs why in this book, I am sharing everything we wish we knew about taking pictures together when we first started travelling as a couple. Read more…
Moulin Rouge
Indulge in a touch of old-world glamour at the legendary Moulin Rouge. Strike a pose outside this iconic cabaret venue, known for its dazzling performances and vibrant nightlife, and let the spirit of Parisian romance infuse your photos.
To avoid having the crowds in your picture at the Moulin Rouge, leave your tripod in front of the bicycle lane while you cross the street at the traffic lights. Wait until the lights are green and the crowds have crossed the road to have the crossing to yourselves.Β
Also, if you don’t want to leave your tripod alone at the other side of the street, just cross half way and turn back before the traffic lights turn red.
Notre Dame Cathedral
Despite the tragic fire, the Notre Dame Cathedral remains an emblematic landmark of Paris that can’t be missed on my photo spot list.
Unfortunately it is still not possible to get anywhere near the Notre Dame due to reconstruction works, but they’ve put up a stand from where you can take a cute selfie together with the iconic Notre Dame Cathedral.Β
The Notre Dame is expected to be reopened in December 2024, so we’ll have to come back and take better pictures with it.
