From Selfies & Strangers' photography skills...
My name is Yvette and I have been travelling with my boyfriend Jordi since 2013. We love exploring the world together – travel is a true passion of ours and we are so grateful for the many adventures we’ve had around the world so far.
But if there is ONE THING I regret about our travels, it’s that we didn’t learn how to take our pictures together as a couple sooner.
For far too long, we depended on selfies and strangers’ photography skills. Having a stranger taking our picture almost never led to the results we desired. Think about cropped out landscapes or cropped out bodies:
Or having the wind blow hair in my face, the exact second our picture is taken:
Even if the stranger who took our picture actually is a good photographer (read: no cropped out landscapes and/or bodies, or hair in my face), we would always pose a bit awkwardly in front of a stranger. And then there are the pictures where I have hair in my face, AND the landscape is cropped out:
And let’s be honest, there is only so much of your travel destination that you can capture in a selfie – even if you’re using a selfie stick. Plus, when your family and friends ask for pictures, you don’t want to be showing them one selfie after another:
Or think of all the photo opportunities we missed as a couple – only because we were too shy to ask someone to take our picture, or simply because there was no one else around to take our picture.

That’s when we decided to put fate back into our own hands, and we learnt how to take our own pictures to get the results we always dreamt of. To get to that point, we studied:
- Whatย photography equipment we need
- How toย pose as a couple
- Where toย find the best photo spots at our destination
- How toย edit our pictures
I put everything we learnt about travel photography as a couple into a process, and now we replicate this process to take the most wonderful couple picturesย anywhere in the world!
Now that we are finally getting the exact results we always dreamt of, our travel pictures together are so precious to us.ย
In my new book, I share my travel couple photography process and all the tricks we learnt that got us to where we are today, so that none of our fellow travel couples have to waste one more trip depending on selfies and strangers’ photography skills.
